THAMESIDE CHURCH

This 4,500 SF community spiritual center located on the banks of the River Thames serves the diverse residents of East London. Designed to accommodate a variety of organized groups and individual visitors, including elderly and youth populations of the are, the design incorporates a means for experiencing the building and its functions from the interior as well as through a series of exterior spaces. The church architecture features a worship space with seating for 1,200 and a multipurpose fellowship hall. Three-quarters of the exterior skin was made of translucent stone panels mounted on a steel frame, allowing the building to glow like a lantern on the river at night.
