Chrysalis Homeless Resource Center

Sparano + Mooney Architecture was shortlisted to design one of four homeless resource centers addressing homelessness in the Salt Lake region. Funded through a combination of private donations and Salt Lake City and County support, each facility was planned to accommodate up to 150 beds while serving distinct populations through specialized programming.

The proposed facility included sleeping accommodations, case management, day and food services, administrative offices, storage, and outdoor spaces. The design provided secure, separate circulation for male and female sleeping and hygiene areas, maximized the site to reduce development costs, incorporated staff and visitor parking with a mobile service drop-off zone, and applied Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles to create a safe, welcoming environment.
