The Park City Community Recreation Center is located on a school-district owned property in the Snyderville Basin. After years of collaboration and the development of the Mountain Recreation Facilities Master Plan, our team was retained by Park City Municipal Corporation to design this new facility for the Park City community. As instituted for all new municipal buildings in Park City, this project is designed to meet and be certified by the Net-Zero Energy initiative.
We performed numerous public outreach and community meetings, completed in order to ensure the facility program supports and exceeds the needs of the community. Flexible, adaptive programming and design solutions were derived from these meetings with community, stakeholder and inter-agency input.
This new 15,000 square-foot community recreation facility includes an indoor/outdoor community event space with a catering kitchen, multi-purpose classroom space and multi-purpose recreation space. The facility and surrounding site also contain a new basketball court, two sand volleyball courts, a fenced playground, an entry plaza, a community events patio and new trail connections to the Silver Creek trail system. The new community recreation center is programmed to accommodate the City-run youth day camp that hosts nearly 150 children at a time.
Following various iterations, the new facility has broken ground and will open to the public in October 2026. It has been designed with flexibility as a core component of the programming, as well as to sensitively integrate the new project with the historic City Park context.
