JORGE BELTRAN
ROLE | Associate
EDUCATION | Woodbury University (BArch)
HOME TOWN | Los Angeles, California
Jorge brings over 17 years of architectural experience as a project designer and coordinator with Sparano + Mooney Architecture. He is an experienced technical lead with a depth of understanding of project requirements for community and recreation centers including IBC Codes. Jorge’s design background – and considerable talent – in studio art lends well to his extensive proficiency in hand renderings in mixed media, building physical and 3D digital models and drawing in AutoCAD and BIM/Revit. He enjoys the studio-like environment in the Sparano + Mooney Architecture office as well as the creative take on each project from concept to completion. Although he is proficient using programs such as BIM, CAD and Adobe, Jorge is most enthusiastic about free-hand sketching especially at the beginning of a project. He has been fortunate to share his interests in architecture and hand-rendering skills while teaching at Long Beach State University, and his art background in turn interconnects with SMA’s design theory and techniques. Jorge earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Woodbury University, and has worked with the firm for over 17 years.
Jorge has an affinity for quoting his favorite childhood TV shows when on a deadline, especially quotes by “El Chapulín Colorado,” who – although he is a humorous version of Superman – always gets the job done. The quote "Calma, que no panda el cúnico," which loosely translates to “stay calm, don’t panic,” is a favorite when meeting a tight deadline!
