Headshot of Jake Ostlind, associate at Sparano + Mooney Architecture

JAKE OSTLIND, NCARB

ROLE | Associate
EDUCATION | Montana State University (MArch)
HOME TOWN | Big Horn, Wyoming

Jake views architecture as the artistic and technical expression of each project’s underlying concept. Jake earned his Master of Architecture from Montana State University – his resulting experience and insight draw deeply on the culture of the American West and more specifically the mountain environments in which he has lived and worked in Wyoming, Montana and Utah. His technical knowledge of building science, materials and systems has been honed over many years working in these harsh and beautiful environments. Jake believes in site-based design, allowing each project’s unique geography, character and history to inform the design process as he works to bring each client’s vision into reality.

Jake has a background in construction and craftsmanship that influences each of his projects.  Additionally, his proficiency with project management, digital and analog tools has contributed to a variety of project types with Sparano + Mooney Architecture including single-family homes, multi-family residential and civic projects.  He is committed to sustainable design practices with a focus on the building envelope and continually seeks out new technologies and techniques to apply to his work. Jake is an avid mountain runner, backcountry skier and outdoorsman.

In his free time (when not working on various home remodel projects) he can be found camping or adventuring with his two boys or headed to explore some remote summit in Utah or Wyoming.
